Uche Aguh is a former Doctor-turned-filmmaker (Writer/Director) born and raised in Nigeria. At the age of ten, he convinced his parents to leave him permanently in Texas, after a brief family holiday. In Texas, he lived with extended relatives and attended both Middle and High School, where he solidified his interest in the arts by pursuing Theatre and Drama. However as an immigrant son of parents from high academia, such an artistic career was frowned upon. Uche attended The University of Texas at Austin majoring in Biology/Pre-Med, and then Mississippi College, where he got a Master’s in Medical-Sciences. Subsequently after, he attended Howard University to study Medicine, with a focus on Pediatric Orthopaedic surgery. After four years of Medical School, Uche opted out of continuing on to a Medical residency, and instead moved to London to attend Drama School where he planned to understand the psychology of actors in order to make him a better Director and Filmmaker. He moved back to America after Drama School, setting up the Indie Film Outfit- 55Media with his co-collaborator and production partner, Dennis Schmitz. Together, the both of them have a series of shorts under their belt, and one major feature- The House Invictus, an award-winning psychological thriller that uniquely examines race and racial issues in America and currently lives on Amazon Prime. In 2021, Uche Aguh will embark on a Landmark journey to slate five unique projects, with productions in both London, and Ghana. Uche is currently represented at Creative Artists Agency and is based primarily in LA, London and Lagos.
